윤정원 | Yoon Jeongwon (b. 1971, South Korea)

윤정원의 회화 작품에는 사람과 동물, 사물들의 위계가 존재하지 않는다. 작가 특유의 탁월한 상상력을 발휘한 회화적 특징이 잘 드러나는 작품 <Two Dolphins>, <붉은 오리>는 다양한 인종과 동물, 혼종적(hybrid) 생명체들이 등장하여 각기 다르지만 이상적 세상에서 함께 조화를 이루며 즐겁게 공존한다. 작가는 이러한 유쾌하고 자유로운 구성력으로 만들어진 아름다운 판타지를 통해 삶의 진정한 축복에 관한 질문을 던진다. 윤정원은 독일에서 수학하며 쿤스트페어라인(Kunstverein)에서 국제미술상을 수상하는 등 국제적 행보를 보여왔으며 특히 잘 알려진 바비인형 작업과 샹들리에 설치를 비롯한 독창적인 작품들은 많은 곳에 소장되어 있다. 소소한 산업재들을 재사용하는 오브제를 비롯하여 설치, 회화와 사진 등 다양한 매체를 구사하면서 인간 본연의 욕망과 자유에 대한 고찰을 자유롭게 표현한다.

There is no hierarchy of people, animals, and objects in Yoon Jeongwon’s painting. Two Dolphins, Red Duck is a work that reveals her unique imagination and artistic characteristics where different races, animals, and hybrid creatures co-exist joyfully in harmony inside the ideal and surreal atmosphere. With its delightful and loose composition, her fantasy questions about the true blessings of life. She studied in Germany and has been internationally acclaimed for winning the International Art Award at Kunstverein. She expresses her thoughts on human desire and liberation through various media using Barbie dolls as chandeliers, objects, installation, photography, and many more.
